Hydrogen exposure and curvature measurements

Lab 4 a

The hydrogen lab contains three set of equipments, hydrogen exposure in the range 1/1000000000000 to 1 atmospheric pressure, while the resistance of the sample is monitored. This allows the determination of the hydrogen content, which is used to construct the phase diagram of the metal-hydride system under investigation.

An optical setup for both transmission and reflectivity measurements in the range 350 – 800 nm are accessible, separate or combined with the hydrogen exposure system.

A setup for determining the curvature of samples is being assembled. This equipment is unique. The sample temperature can be varied between 2.2 and 500 K, while a magnetic field in the range 0.01 to 600 mT can be applied. Furthermore, the sample can also be exposed to hydrogen, all while the curvature of the sample is measured.

This equipment is financed by Knut and Alice Wallenberg foundation.
