Research methods - Growth and characterisation of advanced materials

Labbet

Without knowledge of the composition and structure of the material, all other investigations are a waste of resources.

The experimental facilities

range from sample production to the final determination of the properties of interest. The growth techniques include molecular beam, sputter based techniques as well as self organisation of soft matter. The characterisation of the composition is mainly obtain through ion beam techniques such as Rutherford back scattering as well as nuclear resonance techniques and the structural characterisation is performed by X-ray and Neutron scattering.

The resulting properties are explored using relevant techniques, either in-house or at international facilities.
